Drii Winter
A Piece Of Sky

136 min. / Color / DCP / 1:1,37 / Dolby 5.1 / 2022

» Stunning image-making fills out the stark storytelling in Swiss director Michael Koch’s potent, stoically moving second feature.

Marija

101 Min. / DCP 2K 24fps / 1:1.85 / Colour / 5.1. Sound / 2016

»An incisive, confidently unsentimental debut feature for writer-director Michael Koch, this steel-cut slice of life persistently avoids easy ethical dichotomies.« – Variety

»Margarita Breitkreiz endows this tense character study with a credible urgency that makes it one of the year’s most powerful looks at the crisis of the working class.« – IndieWire

Polar

29 Min. / 16mm, Blow-up 35mm / 2008

9 Min. / MiniDV, Blow-up 35mm / 2005

»In the throbbing close-ups of the animator, Koch’s video is also a portrait of the artist at work. There’s no life for him outside this stadium, outside the audience. He is their king, but he is their slave.« – Silver Impakt Award 2006

»Welche Kraft!

Wild At Heart

Tobias Koch and Jannik Giger win the Georges Delerue Award for Best Music at Film Fest Gent with their work on Drii Winter (A Piece of Sky) Congrats!

The jury writes: „With impeccable precision, the music in this film instantly draws in its audience, while somehow still giving us and the rest of this brilliant film all the space needed to spread out into its admirable exploration of the fragility of human relations. The interplay between meticulously arranged choral pieces and a perfectly spare string-based motif surprised and delighted us, with its harmonies and dissonances. The on-camera performances and framing of the singers, as if they were narrating a Greek tragedy, captivated us, and the music felt perfectly in tune with the picture.”

Drii Winter (A Piece of Sky) will be theatrically released in Belgium on November 9th.

Wild At Heart
